More than 100 people from the Tri-Cities came together to play pickleball for a good cause Saturday. All of the proceeds from the pickleball tournament will be donated to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. It was a two-day event and people with different skill levels and ages participated in the event. First year medical student Bo Cotten started the event and is grateful for how the community rallied together for a good cause.
"Everybody here has been so awesome and you know this is just proof that Johnson City really cares about it's community they care about helping people and they care about pickleball too so we've really appreciated working with them and it's been great to get the medical school engaged with the community and all my friends getting to get introduced to people and our next door neighbors,” Event Organizer Bo Cotten says.
"It's really cool I'm really excited about this tournament for a while, Bo has been planning it and putting in a lot of hard work and it's been really cool to see the turnout and see how many people have shown out,” Event Participant Alex Mays says.
