Whether you’re a pickleball aficionado or just pickleball curious, the Portland Pickleball League hopes you’ll join them to cheer for world-class players during their inaugural season. The Portland Pickleball League, hosted at RECS recreational facility in Clackamas, promises to bring high-level play to Portland for the first time.
The two-month league and tournament is a four-team face-off featuring some of the best players in the world. The 16 players will compete for a cash prize at the championship match in December. The league starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 17015 SE 82nd Avenue in Clackamas.
“We’re thrilled to bring a pro league of this magnitude to the Portland area,” said PPL founder and pro pickleball player Jason Bock in a press release. “When we started thinking about where to hold the season, there was only one place we had in mind - RECS.”
The matches will include men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and two rounds of mixed doubles. In the result of a 2-2 tie, the teams will play a “team breaker” match to determine the winning team.
