POSH PICKLEBALL

Luxury is coming to Palm Beach County, in the form of pickleball. The Pickleball Club, a private membership-based indoor pickleball facility, has the green light for a location in Greenacres.
The company, which operates high-amenity pickleball facilities throughout Florida, has secured site plan approval with a unanimous vote from the Greenacres city council. The groundbreaking is expected by the end of the year.
“We are thrilled the City Council has approved the Pickleball Club’s site plan, marking a significant milestone in the process,” said Andrea McCue, city manager. “We are committed to working quickly and diligently through the planning stages to get their project shovel ready. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact and joy it will bring to our residents and surrounding community.”

The Pickleball Club will sit on a 4.9-acre parcel located on Haverhill Road. The climate-controlled facility will offer members 16 indoor pickleball courts, 184 parking spaces, Players’ Courtyard with three covered outdoor courts and two bocce ball courts. Inside, a 3,850-squarefoot Players’ Lounge will overlook the downstairs courts, Dink’s Pro Shop and Pickle’s Café, similar to its other facilities.
The Greenacre site marks the firm’s ninth announced location in Florida. It is expected to open in 2025.
The Pickleball Club’s first location is now open and operating in Sarasota. Recently, they also placed under contract a parcel in Orlando. Other locations under development include St. Lucie West and Village Park Center, serving the Villages, which are currently both under construction and opening later this year. Additional sites under development include Bonita Springs, Fort Myers, Pinellas Park and Venice.
The Pickleball Club’s strategy is to take advantage of the significant unmet demand for a quality indoor sports experience dedicated to pickleball. Each of the company’s clubs are designed to have up to 16 indoor pickleball courts, multiple outdoor courts, an outdoor activity center, pro shop, café and luxurious lockerroom facilities. The Pickleball Club recently got the green light for a location in Greenacres that will sit on a 4.9 acre lot.
About pickleball
According to USA Pickleball, in 2023 the Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) named pickleball the fastest growing sport in America for the third year in a row. According to the report, pickleball is now up to a total of 8.9 million players in the United States over the age of 6 years old, an increase from 4.8 million in 2022.

Pickleball court layout
A pickleball court is the same size as a doubles badminton court and measures 20-by-44 feet. In pickleball, the same court is used for both singles and doubles play. The net height is 36 inches at the sidelines and 34 inches in the middle. The court is striped similar to a tennis court with right and left service courts and a 7-foot non-volley zone in front of the net (referred to as the “kitchen”). Courts can be constructed specifically for pickleball or they can be converted using existing tennis or badminton courts.
