The Picklr’s features include:
10 indoor courts, including 4 championship-sized courts
Pickleball Central Pro Shop
Community event space
Food service
Members of The Picklr will have access to unlimited open play, league play, and tournaments as well as an option to enroll in private and semi-private lessons and clinics by The Picklr’s certified trainers. In addition to a Birmingham Metro location, the company has ambitious goals to open more than 375 new locations, with roughly 3,750 courts, in the coming years.
Turning a grocery store into a pickleball paradise
The deal to bring the fast-growing sport of pickleball to the 28,000-square-foot grocery store site was facilitated by The Retail Companies.
“We are thrilled to have completed this sale and excited about the future of Vestavia Hills Commons. Securing a lease buyout with Sprouts and bringing in Picklr has created new value for the shopping center and the surrounding community.” Bill Clements, Partner at The Retail Companies
The development also includes several national chains — Chipotle, Super Cuts, Jersey Mike’s, and American Kolache.
The Vestavia/Birmingham, Alabama, club will open in the first quarter of 2025.
