Pickleball Heights, Southern Oregon’s largest indoor pickleball facility, will open its doors to players tomorrow. The facility responds to a desire in the community for more play space. Co-owner Stephen Weymouth said that a designated pickleball space helps support the social aspect of the sport.
“When people are learning more about this game, they just really want to get together and build relationships, get to know their neighbor,” Weymouth told NewsWatch 12. “Pickleball allows you to do that.”
The building offers just under 12,000 square feet of play space, including six courts and a “dink wall” for solo play. Weymouth and his co-owners picked Central Point as a centralized spot in the valley, and it took two months of work to transform an empty industrial space at 5885 Crater Lake Highway into a pickleball hub.
“We can play any time of day and season here,” Weymouth said.
Pickleball Heights will offer lessons and skill ranking options in addition to its court play. Weymouth said the venue is aiming to create a positive and welcoming playing culture: "That's what [pickleball] is all about...having fun and developing friendships."
