Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the country. For proof, one need look no further than the 2026 Powerball Amateur Pickleball State Championship, which is returning to Casper this weekend at the Casper Pickleball & Sports Complex.
From Saturday, Sept. 5 to Monday, Sept. 7, athletes will gather at the complex to find out who will reign supreme in the sport.
The tournament, powered by the Carvana PPA Tour, offers players a unique and exciting opportunity to show off their skills on a huge stage, with the chance of making it to the championship tournament, held later this year in Dallas.
“The State of Wyoming Championship is part of a 50-state tournament held across the country,” said Sam Dia, the COO of the Casper Pickleball & Sports Complex, as well as a tremendous pickleball player in his own right. “They try to do a tournament in each state, which will qualify you for the world championship in Dallas in the beginning of November.”
Dia said Wyoming’s tournament is an important one because Wyoming doesn’t have as large of a population as other competing states.
“This [tournament] really gives us a chance to be qualified,” he said. “We’ve been doing it for the last few years and several of us from Wyoming have been able to go and join the world championship. We’ve been really successful in getting Wyoming players to experience the world championship.”
