Pickleball has exploded in popularity across the country. Now, you can pick up your paddle and play for a good cause!
Young Visionaries Board, a nonprofit that helps with fundraising and outreach efforts for the Foundation for Blind Children, is putting on a pickleball tournament to raise money for the organization. The Foundation for Blind Children is a fellow nonprofit that serves the blind and visually impaired community, offering resources to those of all ages. Jared Kittelson, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation for Blind Children, spoke to Good Morning Arizona about how the Young Visionaries Board supports the foundation.
“The Young Visionary Boards in particular, they’re passionate about our early intervention program, which is our infant program. Birth to to three years old that not only supports the infants, but the families. And creating some of those experiences, the family program, the support that doesn’t always get funded by state funding or different funding sources, we wouldn’t be able to provide those vital resources,” said Kittelson.
The tournament will be held on Friday, February 28, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Phoenix Country Club. The entry fee is $200 per team (teams of 2), and it includes the tournament and an open bar.
“We usually have 32 teams sign up, but even if you’re not a pickleball player, you can come out. It’s a fun event. We’ve got food and drinks and a ton of fun and support for the organization,” said Tom Whitten, co-founder of the Young Visionaries Board.
