Participants sought for Osakis' 2nd annual pickleball tournament

When Taste of Osakis is held next weekend, attendees will have a chance to help raise money for high school seniors to visit Washington D.C., and play pickleball at the same time.

Osakis' second annual Pickleball Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Osakis High School tennis courts.
The tournament will be hosted by the Osakis Closeup Group.

"We're trying to host this tournament as a fundraiser for our students who are traveling to Washington D.C. in March," said teacher and Closeup director Matt Hoelscher. "We did it last year, but this is the first year that we're trying to do it during the Taste of Osakis."

Every level of play will be represented, from beginner, to intermediate, to advanced, and cash prizes will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place winners.

"We have mixed divisions," Hoelscher said. "We have men's and we have women's. So, it's available for anyone who wants to come and have a good time and hang out with people, or people who want to be competitive."
