There’s a heated battle over construction of a new pickleball complex in Tucker. Neighbors living on Morgan Road behind the proposed site are threatening legal action if the city moves forward with the project. The City of Tucker has proposed to build a public 12-court pickleball complex near the Tucker Recreational Center.
“It’s closer than typical recommendations for pickleball complexes to be near residents. We really think it should be in an industrial area,” Tucker resident Heather Hale said.
Hale and several other neighbors have spoken at countless city council meetings, citing noise concerns, traffic impacts among other issues.
“There are talks about homes located close to courts can see a 20% decrease in their property values,” said Rebecca Gross.
The group says they are willing to take matters into their own hands if their voices aren’t heard.
“We are committed and very eager to have conversation with the city about this,” Hale said. “The last thing we want to do is go forward with a lawsuit and we will if we need to, we want to protect the neighbors.”
