A new design has been proposed to lower the project’s cost. The plan includes eight permanent pickleball courts, resurfacing of the basketball courts, and new tennis courts. All courts will have dual striping, allowing for up to 16 pickleball courts when needed. PROSE advocated to ensure that the basketball courts remain dual-striped, despite a request to remove that feature. The plan also includes new lighting.
The revised design is being put out for bid (“sending out for RFP”). Once a contractor is selected, the proposal will go back to the City Council, but only for approval of the costs—NOT for approval of the courts themselves. (this is approved)
If everything proceeds as planned, construction could start as early as April (though this is subject to change). However, they are confident that the project will happen in 2025.
