Indoor Pickleball Venue Coming to N.J.’s Bell Works

A brand-new indoor pickleball venue is coming to Bell Works New Jersey — the massive site of the former Bell Labs campus in Monmouth County.

Jersey Pickleball Club, a 13,800-square-foot indoor pickleball venue, will be located on the lower level of Bell Works in Holmdel, the company recently announced.

“We’re thrilled to bring the Jersey Pickleball Club to Bell Works, continuing its tradition of promoting health and fitness,” said Stephen Rice, the company’s co-founder. “With its central location and exceptional amenities, Bell Works is the perfect place to introduce a year-round indoor pickleball experience for players of all levels.”

The club — the company’s first location — will feature five professional courts, social areas and lockers, officials said. The facility will also host clinics, tournaments, and community events.

Annual club memberships will range from $60 per month for individuals to $150 per month for families, company officials said. There will also be an option for pay-per-play reservations.

According to the company’s website, founding members who sign up before the grand opening will receive a five year freeze on membership dues and have the $250 initiation fee waived.

Membership includes advanced court time reservations, reduced hourly fees, and discounts on clinics and lessons.
The club is expected to open in mid-March.

Bell Works, located at 101 Crawfords Corner Road in Holmdel, was previously known as Bell Labs’ research center, which was a center for major scientific developments, including AT&T’s cellular technology and the Horn Antenna, which was used to confirm the Big Bang theory. But, the company closed the location in 2006. It was eventually purchased and redeveloped into a 2-million-square-foot “work, live, play” campus called Bell Works, which is located at 101 Crawfords Corner Road in Holmdel.
