Bristol Sportsplex Hosts Final Day of ‘Pickleball and Pints’ Tournament

Pickleball players all the way from Canada brought their paddles to the Bristol Sportsplex this weekend for the fourth annual Oktoberfest tournament, “Pickleball and Pints.”

Matt Lavinder, co-owner of the Bristol Sportsplex, said players from New Orleans and Canada registered for the three-day tournament, which welcomed 244 athletes—the weekend included Moneyball gender doubles, mixed doubles and drinks.

“We’re just so excited to put on big events like this and to have Bristol be where people come for this experience,” he said. “We see people come here from other places, much bigger cities, and are just in awe of the facility. And what we have here is pretty cool to see.”

Lavinder said “Pickleball and Pints” is a great place to have fun and create new friendships. “We want to use the bar and the restaurant to elevate the experiences, not just pickleball,” he said. “And so people are eating, drinking and getting to know one another and new friends.”

The Bristol Sportsplex is no stranger to tournament play, as it previously hosted the Carvana PPA Tour, a pro pickleball tour, back in August.
