A pickleball facility, named the Dink District, is projected to open near Myrtle Beach in 2026, the company said in a release. The facility will be located at 200 Ronald McNair Boulevard in Carolina Forest and will be climate-controlled, according to the release. The purpose of the indoor facility is to allow pickleball players to play regardless of weather conditions.
“If you play pickleball outside, you’re getting hit with at least one of these factors every time you play,” said co-owner Kerry Reynolds. “Inside, no problem.”
The Dink District will have 14 pro-grade courts, a pro shop, a lounge that overlooks the courts, and locker rooms. The release says the facility will feature a central “championship court” for hosting tournaments and events.
“The facility will cater to players of all skill levels by providing a mixture of membership and walk-in options. While focusing on open play, Dink District will also accommodate reserved courts and a variety of classes and leagues,” the release says.
This facility is a venture between Ron K. Reynolds, M.D., who has been a member of the Myrtle Beach business and healthcare community since 1986, and his son Kerry Reynolds, who has a background in pickleball. Kerry is a certified level 2 International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association instructor and a local pickleball player who has competed in several tournaments, according to the release.
The company sees this facility as a place “that can be appreciated by players of all levels year round, regardless of weather, in the nation’s fastest growing sport.” The goal of the Dink District is to further push Myrtle Beach as a leading sports destination, the company says. Ron Reynolds said pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports, and that the complex aims to serve the growing pickleball community.
“We feel that all the things that we’re able to do are gonna be able to enhance that for this community and allow it to grow,” Ron Reynolds said.
Construction has yet to begin on the facility.
